Asia Mensa annual gathering 2017 - transport from the airports
The Gold Coast is well served by both national and international flights. There is now a direct flight with Hong Kong Airlines flying from Hong Kong to the Gold Coast.

11 airlines fly from Singapore to the Gold Coast. They include Singapore Airlines, JAL, Scoot, China Eastern Airlines, Emirates, Jetstar Airways, AirAsia.

If you are flying into Sydney, you will have to catch a domestic flight to the Gold Coast.

The two main airports for the Gold Coast are at Brisbane (BNE), which is an hour and a half by train, and just over the hour by road, and the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta (OOL), which is about half an hour by road to Surfers Paradise.

A Gold Coast train leaves from both the International and Domestic terminals at Brisbane Airport, as well as from Brisbane Central station in the Brisbane CBD.

The timetables and fares for the trains to the Gold Coast can be found at the Queensland Rail website at: (click the link below)

You will have to buy a train ticket at the airport to Nerang,
There will be train staff on the platforms to help you with this
Get off at the Nerang station and go to the Eastern car park, where you will find buses and taxis.

Catch the 745 or 744 bus to the Broadbeach South bus interchange, then catch the tram north to Florida Gardens.

There are also bus shuttles which run from the airport to your hotel - see At present the cost is $49.

There are regular taxi and bus services from the Gold Coast Airport. The cheapest would be the big green double decker bus, number 777 (see the image on the left). This bus runs every 15 minutes. Get off this bus at the end of the line at Broadbeach South, then take a short tram ride (only two stops) to Florida Gardens station. You could even walk from the bus stop to Florida Gardens if you did not have much luggage to carry, but the tram should be cheap enough for only two stops. The Crowne Plaza is right opposite the station.(see map on right).

I have negotiated a "go anywhere" deal for delegates to the Gathering, at a more than 50% saving. This gets you travel on all trams, buses and trains .You can buy them when you register.
